Since it was acquired by Facebook over two years ago, WhatsApp has undergone drastic changes and offers new features such as voice calls, document sharing, starred messages and preview links. The application's privacy policy has now been updated to share WhatsApp numbers with Facebook for better friend suggestions.

WhatsApp explained to users that their application is already benefiting from end-to-end encryption and will not sell data to advertisers or read messages. Despite that reassurance, the new privacy policy released on Thursday raises concerns. With the new changes, Facebook will be able to suggest phone contacts as friends after collecting more data about WhatsApp users.

Existing WhatsApp users can refuse to share their account information with Facebook. Users who agree to the updated Terms of Service and Privacy Policy can go to Settings> Accounts and decide for 30 days whether they agree to share their phone number.

On the other hand, by giving Facebook access to your account information, users will receive better friend suggestions, more targeted ads, and fewer spam messages. WhatsApp enhances the user experience, but only if you agree to Facebook's intrusion policy.
